De acuerdo con una encuesta hecha por Viacom, 1 de cada 2 personas de 18-24 años de edad, tiene un amigo “especial” con quien tiene una relación únicamente online y en los últimos 3 años, se ha triplicado el tráfico en los sitios online de citas. En un mundo donde todo está constantemente conectados digitalmente, las redes sociales han hecho que la comunicación sea más fácil, pero este mundo digital también podría complicar las relaciones. En América Latina cada vez hay más personas que buscan citas a través de Internet. De acuerdo con ZonaCitas.com, una de los portales con mayor número de usuarios latinoamericanos suscritos, la cantidad de registros aumentó un 200% de 2010 a 2013. En promedio, un 39% de los usuarios registrados busca encontrar “lo que surja”, el 19% busca una pareja estable, el 17% busca amistades, el 12% un romance y el 13% busca una aventura.
El estreno de la serie en noviembre pasado en Estados Unidos se convirtió en la serie más vista en la historia de MTV ese país en ese horario y logró ser la serie #1 por seis semanas consecutivas en cable para la audiencia P12-34. Adicionalmente, de acuerdo con Social Guide, “Catfish: Mentiras en la red” domina continuamente el espectro social de Estados Unidos, al colocarse como una de las cinco series más comentadas en redes sociales desde su estreno.
“Catfish: Mentiras en la red” se estrena en MTV Latinoamérica el domingo 17 de febrero a las 9pm (Méx/Arg/Col).
