Según el estudio revelado por Leichtman Research Group, encontraron que en general, el 42% de los consumidores están de acuerdo que los cambios en la economía del país, han impactado negativamente sus hogares en el último año, estas cifras se han reducido del 50% reportado el año pasado, 47% en 2010 y 44% en 2009. De los afectados negativamente, 39% dijo haber reducido el gasto en TV, Internet y teléfono el año pasado. El 16% de quienes se ven adversamente afectados, mencionan que son propensos a cambiar de proveedores de servicio en los próximos seis meses.
“La penetración de los hogares estadounidenses que están suscritos a un servicio de video multicanal, se ha estabilizado en alrededor del 87% a nivel nacional en los últimos tres años. La característica definitoria de los que no se suscriben a un servicio multicanal de video sigue siendo el nivel de ingresos de los hogares. Adicionalmente, aquellos que están enfrentando problemas económicos son los más propensos a cambiar de proveedor, o reducir el gasto en servicios”, comentó Bruce Leichtman, presidente y analista principal de Leichtman Research Group.
Cabe resaltar que, el gasto promedio de un hogar en Estados Unidos, gasta US$ 78,63 mensuales por servicio de video multicanal, lo que significa un incremento del 7,2% respecto del año anterior. Sin embargo, esta alza de precios no ha generado cancelaciones masivas al servicio. El porcentaje de hogares que se suscriben al servicio de la TV de pago, está en 87%, lo cual es consistente con los últimos dos años, y por sobre el 80% reportado en 2004.
