Viacom and Oi TV, the pay-TV service in Brazil, signed a distribution agreement for the new pay TV signal MTV in Brazil, which can be tuned to channel number 132.
The multiplatform entertainment destination for Brazilians millennial presents a combination of local formats including: entertainment and variety shows as Coletivation, comedies, fiction series of international studios like The Vampire Diaries and music, which remains one of its pillars.
“The channel has a multi-platform and multi-connection character with its public: Music, fiction, animation, reality and extreme sports are the basis of our grid, which has glocal content: global and local. Nowadays, the Millennials want to know not just what happens in the world, but are also involved in its surroundings. For 2014, we will invest in new local production, as the series ‘Copa do Caos’ and the Brazilian version of the international concert MTV World Stage, a strong MTV brand in the world,” said Tiago Worcman, VP of programming and content and brand manager for MTV Brazil.
Meanwhile, Roger Francis, head of distribution for Viacom Brazil, said: “The entry of MTV through Oi TV makes sure the channel is present in the main Pay TV operators in Brazil. The entry of MTV to Oi TV strengthens the brand in this market and expands the scope of the channel in Brazil,” the Executive said.
