Hollywood director and screenwriter, Betty Kaplan at the XI World Summit of the Telenovela and Fiction Series Industry in Puerto Rico    

Betty Kaplan is an American film director born in New York City and raised in Caracas, Venezuela. She directed the film Dona Barbara, Almost a Woman and Of Love and Shadows. Kaplan currently resides in Los Angeles, California. Often writes and produces its own projects.
 

elvisHer previous work includes the script and the direction of Bolivar (1983), a miniseries for television funded by Venezolana de Television state channel, in co-production with America Television Canal 4 Peru. Dramatizing the historical exploits of Simon Bolivar in his struggle to liberate South America from the Spanish Empire.

Also directed Caminos que Andan a dramatic documentary series (14) on the lives of Latin American writers, shot in France, Spain, Venezuela, Peru, England and Nicaragua for the Television Nacional de Venezuela.

In Of Love and Shadows an adaptation of the novella De Amor y de Sombra of Chilean writer Isabel Allende. Kaplan gave Spanish actor Antonio Banderas his first starring role in an English language film, and is given credit for introducing Banderas in the world of Hollywood.

Currently working in the project El Numero Uno, a film dedicated to the fascinating history and the tragic death of the number one character of Venezuelan television; Renny Ottolina. Renny was local television presenter who acquired quite a reputation due to its scathing critique of national policy. Leaves TV and is dedicated to politics to be nominated as president, but soon after it dies under mysterious circumstances in a plane trip, since then, has initiated a series of theories about an alleged murder.

Now with his song La Novia mas Bella for the telenovela Corazon en Condominium, and nourishes with its lyrics and melodies the scenes of TV Azteca’s Mexican telenovela, in which the artist also has an intervention as an actor. His topic is part of the soundtrack of the telenovela that premiered last month on Mexican television surpassing audience records.

In Venevision Productions of the powerful Cisneros Group is artistic director participating in Sacrificio de Mujer, Eva Luna, Corazon Apasionado, El Talisman, Rosario, and now is preparing for the upcoming release for Univision.

Led the webnovela’s direction of No me Hallo for Univision in Los Angeles. He was an actor, acting coach and director in major productions of Telemundo: Mas sabe el diablo, El rostro de Analia, Pecados Ajenos, and Dame Chocolate. His life has been altered after spending 1 year backpacking, 40 days on a motorcycle, a month on a bicycle and 2 days learning how to whistle. 

As a creative strategist, Carli has worked in public relations and spearheaded the launch of Wapa.tv, Puerto Rico’s main TV station video site, and Bumbia.com, a digital video network focused on hispanic audiences and currently offering original and third-party programming in more than 20 content channels.  He keeps his sanity by doing standup and improv comedy.

 

 

rodrigoThe challenge of the video games is confronted by the prestigious University of Puerto Rico, Atlantic University College, an academic institution that has become the main research center of Central America and the Caribbean and one of the most important in Latin America, both for the number research programs, and the excellence achieved in this field.

At this summit, three of its leading experts in digital animation and Video Games make their contributions. Rodrigo Barasorda, program coordinator of digital animation and video games. A myriad of experts from different areas of the world will shape the panel of the next edition of this event, to be held next November in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
